REV. GIGI A. WARREN
Rev. Gigi Alisa Warren is a native of Montgomery, Alabama where she was raised as the third child of two loving parents, Morris and Mary Ann Warren; who have been married for 59 years. She is the middle sibling of three sisters and one brother; and the proud aunt of four nieces and five nephews. Rev. Warren is a graduate of Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Finance; and Georgia State University with a Master of Finance, completing both degrees as a magna cum laude scholar.
Before receiving her call to ministry, she developed a 15 year professional career in the government, private, and academic sectors as an Executive Director of Budget Development, Financial Analysis, Strategic Planning, Grants, Financial Reporting, and as a Chief Financial Officer, overseeing well over $900 million dollars in public and private funds. In 2005, she left the finance profession, taking with her all that she learned about developing a plan for a sound financial future into a mission of developing a preferred future for God’s people.
She is a May, 2009 summa cum laude honor graduate of Gammon Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), with a Master of Divinity. While at ITC, she was the recipient of numerous academic awards and honors including the class of 2009 Salutatorian with a GPA of 3.95, the highest honor graduate of Gammon Seminary, induction into the Theta Phi International Honor Society of Religion, the Willis J. King Old Testament Award, the Dr. Gerald O. McCulloh Church History Award, and the United Methodist Foundation Scholars Award, just to name a few.
Rev. Warren was commissioned in 2009 as a provisional elder in the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and was ordained in June 2012 as an Elder in Full Connection. She was assigned in her first appointment to serve at her home church; Ben Hill United Methodist Church as the Associate Pastor of Training & Spiritual Formation in the Atlanta College Park District and her second appointment as the Senior Pastor of Leland United Methodist Church in the Atlanta Marietta District where she was the recipient of the AMAR District Denman Evangelism Award in 2013 for church growth of 84 first time professions of faith in a single year. Rev. Warren is excited to now be appointed as the Senior Pastor of Warren Memorial United Methodist Church in the Atlanta College Park District.
Additionally, during her tenure in the North Georgia Conference, Rev. Warren served as a representative on the Atlanta College Park District Board of Trustees; the North Georgia Conference Committee on Black Church Development; Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century, the North Georgia Conference Committee on Discipleship; the Chair of Conference Spiritual Formation and the Executive Committee of the North Georgia Conference Order of Elders.
Currently, Rev. Warren serves on the Extended Board of Ordained Ministry as a Residency Group Leader for Provisional Elders and as the Vice Chair of the Conference Council on Finance & Administration. Effective January 2017, Rev. Warren will become the first female and first African American to serve as the Chair of the North Georgia Conference Council on Finance & Administration.
Pastor Warren’s perspective on her ministry is based on John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
